Meet our Pastor
Jim, a native of central Michigan, is also a graduate of Toccoa Falls College (Bachelors in Biblical Studies), and the University of Wales (Trinity Saint David; Masters in Philosophy). He is married to Stephanie Kristine, with whom he has two (ridiculously cute) children. Before coming to North Avenue in 2010, Jim had been ministering in a small country church in northeast Georgia for approximately five years while also working as a programmer for a poultry company.
Besides hanging out with their kids, Jim and Stephanie love to travel, read, watch classic movies, and dabble in experiments in the kitchen. They both love to engage in honest and vulnerable dialogue about art, literature, politics, theology, and culture. Moreover, their experiences of being immersed in a loving and caring community have shown them the power of authentic relationships to heal broken hearts and mold people into the image of Christ.
Jim has served as a substitute teacher at both Briercrest College (in Saskatchewan) and Toccoa Falls College. He is an active member of the Evangelical Theological Society and Evangelical Philosophical Society, and has presented papers at their national conferences on multiple occasions. A voracious reader, some of Jim’s favorite authors are Nancy Pearcey, J.P. Moreland, William Lane Craig, Alvin Plantinga, Francis Schaeffer, Kenneth Keathley, John Piper, and C.S. Lewis.
